Day By Day Itinerary

Day 1: Adelaide to Whyalla (D)
Adelaide travellers will be met at home and transferred to the Central Bus Station to join the tour. Interstate travellers will be picked up from the Grosvenor Hotel. We begin our journey to the Eyre Peninsula today. We travel to Port Augusta for a lunch stop. From Port Augusta we travel down the Peninsula to Whyalla, South Australia’s largest provincial city. Whyalla was originally known as Hammocks Hill until 1916 and is South Australia’s fourth most populated city. We enjoy a short tour to see the magnificent new jetty on the foreshore before dinner.
1 night: Sundowner / Comfort Inn Hotel Motel
Day 2: Whyalla to Ceduna (BD)
After breakfast this morning we travel to Iron Knob. The area was pegged out by BHP in 1897 and due to the purity of the ore which was 60% iron, became the biggest iron ore producer in the country which led to the beginning of the iron ore industry in Australia. We continue along the Eyre Highway to Kimba, then Kyancutta to Wudinna, which is situated at the edge of the Gawler Ranges. After a stop, we continue to Poochera before travelling to Ceduna, a delightful coastal township situated on the Southern Ocean adjoining the Great Australian Bight.
1 night: Best Western Ceduna
Day 3: Ceduna to Port Lincoln via Streaky Bay & Cape Labatt (BD)
Today we begin our leisurely tour along the coastline, possibly one of the most natural and pristine in the world. A journey along the Flinders Way takes us to Steaky Bay, an attractive fishing village on the Great Australian Bite. We tour to Point Labatt Conservation Park, where from the cliff top viewing platform we have the opportunity to see rare and endangered sea lions sleeping and frolicking on the beach. This colony is the only one of its kind on the Australian mainland. While here we enjoy a picnic lunch. We continue and visit the iconic Murphy’s Haystacks before travelling to Port Kenny and later onto Elliston. Later along the peninsula we arrive at our destination, Port Lincoln where we enjoy a 2 night stay.
2 nights: Port Lincoln Hotel or Hilton Motel
Day 4: Seafood Bay Cruise from Port Lincoln & Sightseeing (BD)
Port Lincoln is well known for a variety of reasons, including tuna fishing and breeding, Great White Sharks and the Australian Sea Lions. Our day begins after breakfast with a little time to enjoy the shopping precinct in Port Lincoln before joining our cruise. Cruise the waters of the largest, most sheltered harbour in the world and learn things that only a local would know. Your cruise will take you to places such as the canals of the Lincoln Cove Marina, Porter Bay, Boston Bay, Port Lincoln National Park, Boston Island, our local Sea Lion colony and views of Port Lincoln that can only be seen from the water! Whilst onboard, enjoy samples of fresh local seasonal seafood including prawns, mussels, sashimi tuna & kingfish. In the afternoon, we head off to the little township of Kopio to experience the wonderful Kopio Museum. The museum features unusual and interesting vintage farm equipment that was developed specifically for the region. Also on show are historic documents and items of the peninsulas pioneering days. We return back to Port Lincoln for dinner and overnight.

Optional shark viewing cruise
Port Lincoln is the world’s most dominant area for the Great White Shark. For thrill seekers we can arrange an optional full day Shark viewing Cruise which allows passengers to either view sharks from the ship or be lowered underwater with diving equipment from a protected cage. This option is dependent on favourable weather conditions and is at additional cost. Please enquire at time of booking.
Day 5: Port Lincoln to Adelaide, Ferry across the Spencer Gulf (B)
Today we enjoy a “cruise” on the Ferry between Lucky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula to Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula. We depart Port Lincoln after breakfast to arrive at Lucky Bay where we board the Sea Road at 11am. Snacks and sandwiches, cake and hot drinks are available to purchase onboard. On arrival at Wallaroo at 1.30 pm, we reboard our coach and continue our journey back to Adelaide arriving at approximately 4:30pm. Passengers will be met and transferred home by car.
Please note in the event of inclement weather or the Ferry not operating, passengers will return to Adelaide via Port Augusta by coach.
